The beginning of a journey…

My name is Tami Winder and I am Colton’s first wife. Colton and I have been married for 8 years, we have one child together so far and are hoping for more soon. I work part time but the job I love most is being a mom. A few years ago we came to the decision that we should live plural marriage, and not long after that we met Sophie.

A closer look at me

I love being a mom and when I’m not taking care of our daughter you’ll most likely find me in the kitchen. I love cooking and trying new recipes, but my real passion in the kitchen is baking. I love making desserts, everything from cakes and pies to bread and pastries to share with everyone.

One of my favorite things to do is to curl up with a cup of tea and a good book. I’m not picky about the book and have an in-the-works goal to have a small library in my house someday. I wanted to list a few of my favorite books here, but after being unable to decide on only 5 favorites I gave up. I am always searching for new books to read and add to my library and I hope to infuse my love of books and reading in my children.

I also love farming and gardening. I think one of the best feelings in the world is feeling soft cool dirt run through your fingers and smelling the freshly tilled soil. I have a little garden to the side of my house full of tomatoes, squash, watermelons, and flowers as well as pots of plants and flower beds.

I also love helping on our little family farm. We have a small operation and produce mostly hay, fruit from our small orchard, cattle, sheep, occasionally a few pigs, and hopefully soon some horses (we haven’t had a good horse for a few years now). My job these days is mostly shepherding our daughter while we go out to work, but I still love showing her the newborn lambs and driving in the truck or tractor with her as we haul hay.

My journey into plural marriage and blogging

By nature I am an introvert. I have always found it difficult to make friends and the few friends that I have made know that the kind of get together I enjoy is visiting on the back porch with a pastry and a cup of tea or cocoa. So when we discussed starting a blog to share our lifestyle I was quite apprehensive. But the more I thought about it, the more I felt like this could be the perfect way for me to put myself out there.

I don’t know anything about blogging, and I’m still learning how to live plural marriage, but I’m hoping this blog will help me learn and grow in both and that it will allow me to share my growth and experiences with you. My desire in doing this blog is to share with you my love for my family and my testimony that living plural marriage is what I have been called to do.

I’m really looking forward to sharing more about my journey and experiences that have lead me to believe in plural marriage. I’ll have another post next Thursday that will share more of why I decided to live plural marriage. I’ll be back soon!
